Yup. NaNoWriMo is eating up all my free time. And I sold some writing, so I’m gonna focus on things they’re paying me to write for a while. So, uh, blogging will be scarce until probably December. Sorry?
For a good cause!
It’s that time of year when I start begging you for donations for New York Cares Day, in which I will volunteer for the fourth year, and my team will go help out a public school in NYC. Your money goes towards New York Cares, which does a lot of great stuff for the city. I put buttons both for my personal donation page and my team (the amazingly awesome Team Truthiness, a ragtag group of volunteers and friends from all over the city) in the sidebar there, so get to the donating!
Just a heads up, I’m putting a conscious effort into updating my book blog, books to the sky, with some regularity this summer, so that’s where a lot of my blogging energy is going, which is why I am posting here less. So go add that blog to your RSS reader. The special bonus is that I’ve got some friends helping me recap some old favorite books (we’ve tackled everything from Christopher Pike to Laurell K. Hamilton to the bags full of category romances a friend gave me).
You may have noticed that things look a little different around here. That’s because I redesigned! I liked the old design, but a lot of the code broke after I upgrade WordPress, so now it’s all fixed and pretty, and who doesn’t love a makeover?
I may have some real content soon, too!
But alas, I’m making a post to lament the fact that I never post anymore.
So let it be known that the quick links and things that used to get compiled into quickies posts are mostly winding up on my Twitter, so follow me there for fun and games.
But, here are some things that didn’t make it to the Twitter.
+ Urban Sketches has some really cool drawings of Brooklyn.
+ Here are some women pioneers.
And that’s all she wrote. I am laaame.
+ Fun fact: the Harper of HarperCollins was once mayor of New York, although he had some anti-Irish feelings, which I can’t endorse.
+ Barack Obama might be a Star Trek nerd. If anything, that’s one more reason to vote for him.
+ After months of saying he wasn’t gonna do it, Mayor Bloomberg is running for a third term despite term limits.
And a programming note: I’ll be live-blogging tomorrow’s vice presidential debate at the Mahablog. Should be a good time.
Just a heads up, I’m expending most of my blog energies on Books to the Sky, my new blog about guilty-pleasure reading. I have some posts in the queue here about John McCain and reproductive rights and terrorist fist bumps that I hope to get up over the next couple of days, so stay tuned if I haven’t already alienated all of my readers.
Things will continue to be sparse around here until probably next week, but! I have a new project, a quasi-literary endeavor, a blog about guilty-pleasure reading that I’m calling Books to the Sky. There are some posts up now, so go check it out.
I’m not dead, just preoccupied with other things. The gallant return to blogging shall happen soon!
Here’s a lolcat:
